Topsoil
Screened topsoil, delivered in bulk from 5 tonnes
Our general-purpose topsoil. It’s passed through a screen to take out larger stones, roots and clods, so it spreads and rakes out evenly.
- Five tonnes minimum
- Loose or bulk bags
What it’s used for
Screened topsoil does the heavy lifting on most outdoor projects: raising and levelling ground, filling around new buildings and hard landscaping, and building up a growing layer where the existing soil is thin or poor.
- Raising and levelling gardens and plots
- The growing layer under new lawns and seeded areas
- Backfilling after groundworks and drainage
- Landscaping banks, verges and open spaces

Getting a good result
- 01
Clear and loosen
Remove rubble and weeds, and break up compacted ground before you spread.
- 02
Spread in layers
Spread and firm in layers rather than all at once, especially when raising levels.
- 03
Allow for settling
Loose soil settles. Build slightly above your finished level, or allow a little extra when ordering.
- 04
Finish the surface
Rake to a level, crumbly finish before seeding or turfing.
How many tonnes?
Add your area and depth; the figure is rounded up to whole tonnes, never below five.
Questions
Is it the same as the soil on my site?
Not necessarily. Screened topsoil has had the larger stones and roots taken out, so it’s easier to work and gives a more even finish than most excavated site soil.
Do you supply test certificates?
If your project needs test information, mention it on your quote request. We’ll tell you what’s available for the material we have at the time before you order.
Can I mix grades on one delivery?
Yes. Add each grade to the same request, with five tonnes or more of each.
